When you should be writing a lab report, why not get in the writing mood by typing up a quick recipe? (Yes, I’m procrastinating, but oh well!)
I enjoy finding meal hacks for the Medifast Mac&Cheese (see product information here) because I bought two boxes and am just not a huge fan.
I’m also not a huge fan of plain turkey meat, but so many seasoning mixes and condiment packets have sugar or some other additives. Garlic powder, seasoning salt, pepper, and other seasonings are great but only go so far.
So, I made an interesting meal today in a desperate attempt to make a quick meal, and in all honesty it actually turned out. Don’t worry – if I was reading the recipe I would skip right over it too. But if you’re adventurous, go for it!
Medifast Mac&Cheese Cheeseburger Salad
1 Medifact Mac&Cheese Packet (1 meal)
5 oz of cooked ground turkey meat – seasoned to your liking (lean/leaner depending on fat percentage)
2 servings of lettuce of your choice (2 green)
1 small tomato cubed – approximately 1/2 cup (1 green)
Total result: 1 lean&green meal and 1 medifast meal (breaking into 2 servings is highly recommended)
- If not previously prepared, cook and season lean ground turkey on stove.
- Prepare mac and cheese as directed.
- Before allowing mac and cheese to thicken, add turkey meat and stir. Then let mixture sit.
- Put bed of lettuce in bottom of bowl or on small plate.
- Add cubed tomatoes.
- Top with mac&cheese/ground turkey mix.
- Add any seasonings of your choice (I recommend hot sauce).
The moisture from the tomatoes and mac&cheese mixture will give more than enough liquid to skip any and all salad dressing! Plus, this can be seasoned essentially any way that you would like.
It sounds odd, it looks a tad odd, but it tastes fantastic. Think of it as a deconstructed burger, or “hamburger helper,” or a bed of lettuce rather than a salad, or however you prefer!
Don’t be afraid to try new things on this new lifestyle, or any lifestyle – it will help you out a lot!
